My Makeup Box

Have you ever gone out of town and the night before you are sitting at your vanity trying to decide what makeup to bring?  I then have the issues of, "do I have everything I need?"  Inevitably I ALWAYS forget and have forgotten many important products.....such as Mascara!!  I don't care who you are, without  Mascara your look will be incomplete.

So I am walking through ULTA one day and there it was.......The answer to my problem.

My Makeup Box, or as my Mother lovingly refers to it as, "My Tackle Box"

This Caboodle holds the majority of my makeup at the moment.  I am about to expand out from this box, but until then this holds all my current makeup for the season.  I do rotate out makeup according to season as you are not going to wear dark plum eyeshadow or dark plum blush in the summer time.  At least I do not.  My darker fall colors get put into a makeup bag and left in the closet till I need them next aka next Fall.

There was a time when My husband and I only had one child and we went out of town a lot to visit family and all I had to do was grab this box and I was out the door.  No worries because I knew everything I would need was in this box.

Or when I had our two sons and had to spend the night in the hospital after I gave birth.  Instead of having to tell my husband which products I needed, which would have ended badly as I am pretty sure my husband is still unsure what a mascara tube looks like, I just said grab my makeup box Babylove. (my nickname for him)

My makeup brushes are kept in these cute little canisters I got from Target last season.  The left smaller canister holds all my eyeshadow brushes and the right bigger canister holds all my face brushes.

I use an assortments of brushes.  Everything from MAC to Urban Decay to Sonia Kashuk.  I just purchased my first Sephora foundation brush and I am LOVING it right now.

Forgive their appearance as I had just washed them before I took this picture.
1.Starting from the left we have my Sonia Kashuk Powder Brush.  This was part of a set and the brushes were not numbered. I use this to apply powder and at times my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders which I will talk about later.
2. This is my angled 168 Large Angled brush from MAC.  I use this brush to apply blush and sometimes I use it for contouring. MAC lists this brush as being large in size but to me it is average size.
3. Next is my 188 Small Duo Fiber face brush also from MAC.  I use this to blend my under eye concealer and sometimes for my foundation depending on which products I use that day.
4.Last but not least is my new brush from Sephora.  It is listed as Classic Mineral Powder Brush #45.  This is the perfect brush for buffing your foundation on.  When I use this brush it gives my skin an airbrushed look.  Absolutely flawless.
I have found that the quality of brush will make or break your look.  I learned this fast and am now very picky about what I use.  I am also researching new brushes and hope to make a few new purchases soon...... such as a Marc Jacobs foundation brush and a few from Sigma.   As soon as I get those I will be doing a first impressions on what I think.

Thank you so much visiting my Makeup World!

About Me

Hey Everyone and Welcome to my Blog!!

My name is Sara and I love all things Beauty and Makeup.  I have had a mad passion for makeup since I was a little girl.  My ultimate dream is to be a Makeup Artist for Runway Shows, Movies and/or Fashion Photo Shoots.

I am currently working toward this dream while raising a family and working at Starbucks in Atlanta, GA.  I decided to start this blog to share my thoughts, my tricks and to teach a few things I have learned over the years about the magic of makeup.

To get started I decided to do a Before and After shot of myself getting ready as I do most days.  Very rarely do I leave the house without putting at least a little makeup on but as I am a mother of three small children, it does happen!  I always try to keep my makeup as natural as possible, unless I am trying something new or going for a specific dramatic look.

I get more compliments on my complexion and my eyes when I go natural like this.   My eyes are my absolute favorite feature and I  play them up by wearing a lot of green and pink eyeshadows.

Today I am wearing my beloved NAKED 3 PALETTE from URBAN DECAY
I got this palette for Christmas and I have not been able to go to anything else.

I have all three Naked Palettes now and this is by far my favorite of all three.  I am able to create natural looks and even smokey dramatic looks, plus I only have to use the colors provided on the palette.  With other palettes I find that I go back to my MAC colors to blend or highlight, but not with the Naked 3.

The thing I try to always remember when doing makeup is we all start with our own beauty.....makeup is only meant to enhance what God gave us.  We are all beautiful in our own unique ways.

Thank you so much for reading and welcome to my Makeup Journey!!
